The fruit for this 2011 wine was sourced from Wilyabrup, the small sub-region of Margaret River that produces the absolute best Cab Sauv's and Merlots in Australia. This is where the first vines were planted in the Margs region, and the age of the vineyards (plus the perfect terroir) ensures the age-ability of the wines they produce.
This wine is no different. The 2011 vintage in the west was one for the ages, and this twist-on-a-bordeaux blend is drinking magnificently at the moment.

With a slightly savoury nose of dried violets, thyme flowers, tomato bush, blackberries/blackcurrants, leather and white pepper this wine has the complex developed character of a wine with a bit of age on it. However on the palate, the soft supple tannins are velvety and luscious. And there is a surprising amount of juicy vibrant red/purple fruits that keep the mouth watering. Combine this with some mocha flavours from oak and the final result is a wine of serious complexity. But one that can be consumed in a hurry if need be, also.

A goddamn steal.
